Nena French: New Music Artist, Great Music, Great Cause!!!

Press Release March 12, 2003 by Sean Musgrove

Nena French is a new talent who is coming onto the music scene in the Sacramento area.

Rather than seeking fame and fortune, this beautiful artist created her first music CD to raise money for cancer research at Creighton University, Nebraska. The music on The Nena French CD varies in styles from modern rock to country. There are several originals and several cover songs ranging from Sheryl Crowe to Bob Dylan to Patsy Cline. The various music styles found on The Nena French CD not only demonstrates Nena French’s talent, but also appeals to multi-music genres which will allow the CD to succeed.

Using gorilla marketing tactics, her CD will be start being sold at varying locations. However, Sean Musgrove Presents hopes to be able to have the CD available at local businesses and record stores soon.

Beginning March 12, 2003, the gorilla marketing tactics will take place in the mornings during rush hour, at various locations, throughout the greater Sacramento area. Also on Fridays in the evenings and Saturday afternoon.

This is really the heart of the story. Nena French’s father Marvin Lee French, her sister Mary French-Seaman, and brother Alan French were diagnosed with an aggressive form colon cancer in the 1990s. Only her brother Alan has survived. After their diagnoses, Nena French was screened for colon cancer almost yearly, and lived with a sense that she would eventually be afflicted with colon cancer because of her family’s propensities. This fear dissipated when Creighton University, Nebraska, under the leadership of Dr. Henry T. Lynch, identified the particular gene that caused her family’s colon cancer.
Further genetic testing by Creighton University determined that Nena French did not have the gene and therefore did not live with an accelerated chance of being diagnosed with
cancer.

To thank Creighton University, Nena French went into the recording studio and created The Nena French CD to raise money for Creighton University.

The album sells for $15.00 per CD. One-third of the gross profits go directly to Creighton University’s Hereditary Cancer Institute. The other two-thirds of the album’s proceeds will go into the marketing and for cost recovery for costs already paid for by Nena French, including music licensing, studio time, and CD manufacturing. It is hoped that local success of the album will bring greater success to the efforts by Henry T. Lynch and his staff at Creighton University.

Sean Musgrove and Nena French created the idea for a CD. The CD was produced in Shingle Springs at ProMedia Studios, owned by sound engineer Keith Cummins. The
original songs were written at LCR Studios in Roseville by Bernie Paciello. Musicians who played on the album include Roger Stanton, former bass player from the 1970's rock/blues band Quick Silver Messenger Service. Also playing on the album was Frank Rodriguez, local guitarist who coordinated the studio efforts.
